Have a question about this product?

The Schneider Electric A9R12491 is a 4-pole, 100A Acti 9 iID residual current circuit breaker (RCCB) with 100mA Type AC residual-current sensitivity. It provides voltage-independent earth-leakage protection for three-phase-and-neutral distribution boards, guarding against indirect-contact shock and earth-fault fire risk in commercial and industrial installations. It is compliant with EN/IEC 61008-1 and mounts on standard DIN rail.

Quick Specs

Applications & Compatibility

The A9R12491 is used as a group or incoming residual-current device in three-phase distribution boards where earth-leakage protection is required. At 100mA sensitivity it is typically applied for fire protection and indirect-contact protection, or as an upstream device providing discrimination above 30mA final-circuit RCDs.

  • Suitable for TT and TN earthing systems where an RCD is required for earth-fault protection.
  • Provides earth-leakage protection only — pair with upstream MCBs or an MCCB for overload and short-circuit protection.
  • The 10 kA conditional short-circuit rating requires a correctly rated protective device upstream.
  • Type AC detects sinusoidal AC residual currents; installations with electronic loads (VFDs, EV chargers, some IT/LED loads) that produce pulsating DC leakage require a Type A or higher RCD instead.

Why Buy From Electrical Junction

  • Genuine Schneider Electric Acti 9 product — not grey-market repackaging.
  • Physical trade counter in Deira, Dubai for walk-in buyers who want to verify the part in person before ordering.
  • Export and bulk orders handled by our engineer, who confirms RCD type and sensitivity match your load before dispatch.
  • Direct sourcing pipeline through our Mumbai arm supports competitive pricing and restocking versus UAE-only distributors.
  • VAT invoice and GCC delivery for contractors and procurement teams.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the A9R12491 suitable for shock protection on socket-outlet circuits?

No — the A9R12491 is a 100mA device, intended for fire protection and indirect-contact protection, not additional protection on socket circuits. IEC guidance calls for a 30mA RCD for additional protection on final socket circuits. For that, use the 30mA version, Schneider A9R11491.

What is the difference between Type AC and Type A on this RCCB?

Type AC (this unit) trips on sinusoidal AC residual currents only. Loads that draw pulsating or smooth DC leakage — variable-speed drives, EV chargers, and some electronic power supplies — can blind a Type AC device, so those installations require a Type A or higher RCD (for example the Type A A9R21491).

Does this RCCB provide overload or short-circuit protection?

No. An RCCB provides residual (earth-leakage) protection only. It must be protected against overload and short circuit by upstream MCBs or an MCCB. Its 10 kA conditional short-circuit rating is only valid when backed by a correctly rated upstream protective device.

How does the A9R12491 differ from the A9R11491 and A9R14491?

They are the same 4-pole, 100A, Type AC Acti 9 iID frame with different earth-leakage sensitivity: A9R11491 is 30mA, A9R12491 (this unit) is 100mA, and A9R14491 is 300mA. Choose the sensitivity to match the protection function — 30mA for additional/shock protection, 100mA/300mA for fire protection and discrimination.

Is the 4-pole version correct for my board?

The 4P version is for three-phase-plus-neutral (TP&N) installations. For single-phase (line and neutral) circuits, use the 2-pole Acti 9 iID RCCB of the matching current and sensitivity instead.
